Carman’s Story

I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2003 at the age of 33. That day was devastating, but by the next day I was ready for my treatment. We started chemo and radiation right away. A year later, I had breast reconstruction and went into remission. In July 2008 it spread to my central nervous system. I continued chemotherapy.

I am not going to say that it hasn't been hard because it has, but I am a very positive person and trust my doctors immensely. My advice to anyone is to think positive, trust in the Lord, and surround yourself with family and friends.

One single story can inspire, teach and provide hope for women and men across the community. And whether it’s a story of survivorship, or information about innovative research or complementary treatments, the power of someone’s words can have an impact greater than you would ever imagined.

On Friday, June 4th come see the inspirational stories and photographs of 7 local women whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer. The Impact of a Promise gallery show is dedicated to our friend Carman.
