The NC Triangle Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is dedicated to the promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. In 2007, the Affiliate invested about $1.3 million in research, education, screening, treatment and post-diagnosis programs.
The Komen NC Triangle Affiliate awards several types of grants each year. In 2007, more than $830,000 was awarded through our STEP Grant program supporting Screening, Treatment, Education, and Post-diagnosis programs, and more than $40,000 supported travel, conferences and small projects through our Small Grant program. New for 2008, the Komen NC Triangle Affiliate is proud to announce a very special new grant program, the KAY Grant: Komen Access in Your Community, in honor of NC State University Coach Kay Yow.
Grants to support screening, treatment, education and post-diagnosis programs and initiatives are available to non-profit organizations serving constituencies within the Komen NC Triangle’s 13-county service area.
Funding Range: Up to $75,000 for programs that include Patient Care Costs Up to $40,000 for programs that do not include Patient Care Costs

Access to medical service grants are available to non-profit organizations serving constituencies within the Komen NC Triangle’s 13-county service area. Grants are awarded on an annual basis and are offered for one-year terms. Grant applications are due each November for programs that focus on the effective and efficient minimization of logistical barriers to receiving breast health medical services. Access is defined as anything that is logistically necessary to get a client to their medical service(s). Medical Service is defined as screening, treatment, treatment support and/or medically related survivorship needs.
Funding Range: Up to $75,000
Funding Cycle: The funding cycle runs for one year, beginning each April 1. Proposals are due the second week of November each year. Click here for current KAY Grant RFP information and forms (updated each June).
Small grants are awarded throughout the year in several categories. Each year, the Komen NC Triangle Board of Directors sets aside a small sum of money to support grants in three categories:
