How to Apply for Funding

The 2013-2014 Statement of Need and Requst For Applications (RFA) are now available.

The North Carolina Triangle to the Coast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure offers grants for innovative projects in the areas of breast health and breast cancer education, outreach, screening, treatment support, and post diagnosis services/support targeting services not otherwise available to the medically underserved populations of our 29 county service area: Bladen, Brunswick, Caswell, Chatham, Columbus, Duplin, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, New Hanover, Northampton, Onslow, Orange, Pender, Person, Pitt, Sampson, Scotland, Vance, Warren, Wake, and Wilson.

Grants are available for up to one (1) year and on a fiscal year cycle from April 1 to March 31.

How to Apply for Community Health Grants

  • A representative from your organization/institute must attend one of the Grant Writing Workshops (See information below)
  • Download and Read over the RFA
  • Submit a Letter of Intent to grants@komennctc.org by 5 pm, Friday October 5, 2012

To qualify for funding your organization must meet all of the following criteria:

1. Provide breast health/cancer services or financial support within the continuum of care and recovery (i.e., education, screening, diagnosis, treatment, post-diagnosis/survivorship).

2. A federally tax exempt entity — nonprofit organization, government agency, educational institution or Indian tribe.

3. Reside and serve patients in the affiliate’s 29-county service area of Bladen, Brunswick, Caswell, Chatham, Columbus, Duplin, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, New Hanover, Northampton, Onslow, Orange, Pender, Person, Pitt, Smapson, Scotland, Vance, Warren, Wake, and Wilson.

4. Program must be specific to breast health and/or breast cancer; e.g. if a program is a combined breast and cervical cancer program, funding may only be requested for the breast cancer portion.
Funding Limits: Komen North Carolina Triangle to the Coast offers funding at the following levels:

  • Indirect Care/Support: programs provide education, outreach, awareness, and/or social support but NOT direct screening or treatment services can be funded up to $30,000.
  • Direct Care: programs that provide direct patient care costs/services such as screening and treatment can be funded up to $65,000.

New Komen Funding Opportunity

SMALL GRANTS:  We are now pleased to offer opportunities for organizations and/or communities to receive small grants to support capacity building, infrastructure development and community mobilizing, especially focusing on creation of new models, programs and partnerships. These small grants are by invitation only and are available year-round.
