There are three options for participants wishing to walk or run a 5K (3.1miles).
Competitive Co-ed 5K: To receive an official time and finish place and to be eligible for awards, you must register for the Competitive Open 5K, which begins at 7:00 am. This year we are using a new timing system, D-Tag which is attached to your Race bib number. Because the tag is on your bib, there will be no separate chip pickup on Race Day.
Important things to note for the competitive event:
Recreational 5K Races: If you do not care about an official time, then the Women’s Only or Coed Recreational 5K are good choices for your Race.
One-Mile Fun Run/Walk: Can’t see yourself running or walking three miles? Then this event is for you! Enjoy a scenic jog or stroll around the beautiful Meredith College campus. This event is perfect to do with children who are too old for the stroller but cannot quite make it through the 5K event.
Breast cancer survivors who wish to be recognized may pick up their complimentary pink cap provided by our National Survivor Program Sponsor, Zeta Tau Alpha at the Survivor Pavilion. Additional survivor activities include a breakfast, provided by Whole Foods Market, group photo, special gift and recognition ceremony. We would also like to invite participants to recognize those special people who have been touched by breast cancer. “In Memory of” and “In Celebration of” back signs will be available for all Race participants. Other special treats are in store for our honorees.
Visit exhibits, enjoy a variety of entertainment, and get product samples and breast cancer educational materials from our Race sponsors and Community Grant recipients in our Race Town Expo area.
KidZone: Bring the kids! The entire family can have a blast at this year’s Race! The KidZone features play areas, great activities and fun give-aways for kids ages 3 to 12. The KidZone will be open throughout all Race events. Children must be accompanied by parent to participate in KidZone activities.
Time Warner Cable Kids Dash for the Cure Children ages 3 to 5 are invited to run in the Kids Dash for the Cure, sponsored by Time Warner Cable. This 100-yard “dash” starts at 10:15 am next to the KidZone area. Register ONLINE prior to Race Day. There is no fee and each child will receive a finisher’s ribbon and a commemorative Kids Dash for the Cure T-shirt (while supplies last)!
