The Komen NC Triangle Race for the Cure® is so much more than a fundraiser. Each year, almost 1000 North Carolina women and men celebrate another year of survivorship. Breast cancer survivors are greeted with food, special shirts and hats, and hundreds of open arms at the Survivor Pavilion. The highlight of Race Day is the survivor procession at the end of the morning.
Registered breast cancer survivors who wish to be recognized may pick up complimentary pink caps and pink T-shirts at the Survivor Pavilion on Race Day. The Breast Cancer Survivor Recognition Program is nationally sponsored by Zeta Tau Alpha and RE/MAX. The Survivor Pavilion is sponsored locally by Duke Cancer Center of Raleigh. All registered survivors will receive a special gift as well. Additionally several professional massage therapists will be providing complimentary massages for registered survivors on Race Day.
Join other survivors for a lovely complimentary breakfast sponsored by Whole Foods Market®. Later in the morning, we’ll gather in front of the Survivor Pavilion for the traditional survivor photo. Each survivor receives a copy of the photo to commemorate the day.
A recognition ceremony for survivors is the highlight of the day and opens with a procession of survivors across the Race venue. Details of the ceremony will be provided to all registered survivors closer to Race day.
We also invite participants to recognize those special people who have been touched by breast cancer. “In Memory of” and “In Celebration of” back signs will be available for all Race participants on Race Day at the Survivor Pavilion and at the Registration Area. Our Wall of Hope offers another opportunity to recognize special people and to share messages of hope and encouragement.
Nominations are currently being accepted for three very special recognitions to be made on Race Day. Please see below for award descriptions and links to download a nomination form. Please send all nomination forms to awards@komennctriangle.org.
