This is an exciting time of growth and change for the NC Triangle Susan G. Komen for the Cure. As part of our commitment to educating the community, and based on feedback from our constituents and the Affiliate’s Community Profile, the Affiliate is redefining our education and outreach efforts. The result will be a more comprehensive, in-depth approach to outreach and education that maximizes our most valuable resource: our volunteers. You are likely to notice some changes in our approach to education and outreach:

Collaboration

The Komen NC Triangle Affiliate collaborates with our community partners and grant recipients to provide Komen materials at as many health fairs as possible. Affiliate volunteers participate in 8-10 Health Fairs a year chosen to target identified areas of need. We are happy to work with your organization to provide resources wherever possible. Please call the Affiliate office to discuss options. If you know of others who may be attending these types of health fairs, please let us know so we can collaborate.

Speakers Bureau

As part of the Komen NC Triangle Affiliate speakers bureau, trained speakers are available for participation in community events seeking to learn more about Komen for the Cure, Basic Breast Health, Survivor Stories and Breast Self Exam Instruction. All speakers for breast health topics are instructor certified. Call the Affiliate office for more information.

Education Material

If you are planning an education program/workshop or health fair, and are in need of breast health education material, please see our website where you can order up to 50 individual pieces. If you require more than that, give us a call and we will put something together for you. We also have education videos, a CD-Rom instruction on breast self exam, a breast health quiz and other great resources available for you to borrow.
