First Steps

There are many ways to raise money to support the NC Triangle Affiliate, and our staff will be happy to help you make your decision once you have reviewed the information on this site. Your first decision is whether you’d like to do an event that you organize from the ground up OR one that is already “canned” and ready to go. For successful events that you can easily customize in your community, please review the National Programs page. To create your own event, please review our guidelines and application. Support from Our Staff

While our staff and volunteers cannot serve as members of your organizing committee, we will be happy to talk with you about options and ideas for a successful event. We do ask that you review the information on this site thoroughly before you contact us so that we can better assist you. We are grateful that so many of our supporters want to acknowledge Breast Cancer Awareness Month by hosting events in October. However, because of the large number of staff and volunteer commitments during this time, we cannot promise the same level of support for your event if it takes place in October. We appreciate you considering another month to hold your event. Together we can raise funds and awareness 12 months a year!

Use of our Name and Logo

Susan G. Komen for the Cure has an excellent reputation and a well-known name. We understand the value of that name to your organization, business and/or event, and we hope that you appreciate that our guidelines aim to preserve the integrity and value of our name. Use of our name and logo are strictly controlled. Once you have entered into an agreement with our Affiliate or with one of our National partners, you will be instructed as to how you may use the name and/or logo, if appropriate. Because these are trademarked products, unauthorized use is strictly prohibited.

Fundraising Without an Agreement

If you prefer to raise funds for our organization without submitting an application, you may certainly do so without using our name or logo. We recommend indicating to your participants that you are raising funds to support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.
